Sonia Mbele Breaks Silence On Menzi’s Passing “I’m still battling!”

Post main imageThe country has been mourning the passing of legendary actor Menzi Ngubane. Fans, friends and colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to the actor. It came as a surprise as Sonia Mbele, who played Menzi’s onscreen husband on Generations posted nothing about his passing until recently. Taking to Twitter, the actress revealed why she took so long to post about Ngamla’s untimely death.

While a guest on Phat Joe’s Cheeky Palate beside Skeem Saam actor Cedric Fourie, Joe Kazadi and psychologist Buyisile Mncina. These guests touched on the challenges parents face when it comes to co-parenting and single parenthood.

Sonia Mbele’s marriage to ex-husband lawyer Leslie Sedibe became the highlight of the show and as always Phat Joe’s questions triggered Sonia.

The panel was talking about finances in raising children and that topic became a bit too personal for Sonia, as she was once accused of marrying Leslie for his ‘millions.'”People have always said Sonia married for money, I’m like where? That guy earned a salary. He went to work, would take his suitcase with him, come home and then earn his salary at the end of the month. He was never a BEE or tenderpreneur, we both earned a salary.”

The topic got a bit too much for Sonia as she almost broke down, but held back her tears and continued venting. She said their marriage and divorce was very ugly.

“Who am I married to? When you wake up and then feel like ‘I love you today, but then I hate you tomorrow’ type of thing. It doesn’t make sense how it could be that ugly.

“There was a time when we did not speak for years, and I am comfortable talking about this now, but there was a time when I wasn’t. The reason I am comfortable about this now is because my kids are grown and old enough to know, decipher, asses and decide…what I am saying now will no longer be a shocker to them,” she opened up.
Speaking about the nitty-gritty of their marriage, Sonia revealed that her ex-husband Lelsie made her quit her job on Generations as Ntombi because he was not comfortable with seeing her getting intimate with another man. Sonia played Ntombi on the previous Generations from 2003 up until 2009. Her reason for quitting the show was because her relationship with onscreen husband Sibusiso Dlomo, played by Menzi Ngubane was too uncomfortable for Leslie.

Sonia then revealed that he started off by restricting her from watching the soapie to then asking her to quit. His controlling ways were too much for Sonia to handle so she then had her mother mediate to try and find common ground.

Sonia and Leslie tied the knot in 2006 after dating for a couple of years. Their fairytale marriage became sour and was hanging by a thread, till the couple who have three children decided to call it quits in 2014 after being together for 8 years.

Mfundi Vundla Says He Was Not Enemies With Menzi, This Is What Happened, According To Him

Creator and producer of Generations Mfundi Vundla has now opened up about how his relationship was with the late Menzi Ngubane. You might know that a lot had happened which led to Ngubane getting fired from the Television series, Generations.

There was, supposedly an issue regarding salaries, but at some point, people probably got to accept that they would no longer see their favourite character, Ngamla. You might remember this period, Ngubane and other cast members were fired by Vundla.

For the longest time, people might have had a certain view of this particular issue and because there was never really any confirmation that things were going well between the two, people probably assumed that there might have been bad blood there.

Despite his departure from Generations, Ngubane continued to grow as far as his acting career was concerned, there was no doubt that he had potential to become even greater, and because of how talented he was, people always wanted to see him on TV.

This morning, Vundla was interviewed by Newzroom Afrika on the relationship that he had with the veteran actor. Vundla mentioned how he had been working with Ngubane and had actually worked with him on several projects over a period of more than ten years.

So, it does seem like the two men were once on a journey together before the whole incident happened, Vundla also went into how he was never enemy to Menzi and vice versa. We know that a lot of people are saddened by the passing of Ngubane, his passion on screen will be missed.

As much as there were differences between Vundla and Ngubane, one thing that we cannot deny is that they created magic together. The character of Sbusiso Dlomo had a lot of impact, it is unlikely that you would talk about the old Generations and not mention Sbusiso Dlomo aka Ngamla.

For a lot of South Africans, he was probably that one actor people could not wait to see on TV. The way he portrayed Ngamla, it was something that we had never seen before, he gave us memories, the veteran will always be missed.

AKA Defends Kairo Over King Zwelithini Condolence Message Papa bear is finally stepping up.

Post main imageKiernan AKA Forbes’ engagement might have just been the growing up that he needed if he continues to showcase fatherly goals as he has. The rapper who recently announced his engagement to not-ama2k-because-she-was-born-in-1990-something, Nelli Tembe, recently stepped up for daughter, Kairo Forbes. The rapper coming to the defence of his daughter is a stark difference from having previously thrown his daughter in the firing line when dealing with tweeps. Forgotten what we are referring to? Well, a quick reminder. Remember when DJ Zinhle- Kairo’s mother and the ex-girlfriend of the rapper- took to Twitter to make it clear that one aspect of her life that will not be of trending topic is her daughter? The reason she did so being the attacks that Kairo was getting following AKA using her as an example of how generational wealth is produced, and some on the app are just haters.
Well, it seems it was not just the tweeps that got the memorandum. But the possible father of two seems to have also received the message and is working on ensuring that it is maintained even on his own timeline. This was after Kairo was getting flack over her post on her Instagram account sending “her” condolences to the family and friends of the late King Goodwill Zwelinithini.

Earlier in the week, South Ah was rocked by the announcement of the passing of the King of the Zulu tribe, King Zwelinithini. Kairo who is half Zulu due to her mother’s origins posted an image of herself dressed in traditional regalia paying her tribute to the king. In the message, Kairo captioned the post by writing to the king’s family that, “Our nation has lost a king. Hamba kahle Silo samabandla (Rest in peace, protect of nations.) King Goodwill Zwelithini ka But it did not take long for tweeps to circulate the post and question how the toddler could write such a succinct and articulate message. This was as they flooded the comment section with side-eye comments guessing who was behind the message. Guesses mostly suggested it was DJ Zinhle because of the isiZulu part of the caption.

It seems that some tweeps are unaware that Kairo’s social media platforms are run by her grandmother, Lynn Forbes hence they can sound so articulate. But AKA recognizing the comments decisively dealt with the naysayers and made it clear that delete and tool, or risk the fury of ZInhle- jokes of course about the last part.
