Former Umhlobo Wenene FM presenter Mthobeli “KC” August has passed away. He was 47.
The news of his death was announced by a family spokesperson Melumuzi Mhlawuli. “It is with great sadness that the August family announces the passing of their son Mthobeli KCi August,” he said.
Mhlawuli said the Adelaide-born presenter was discovered unconscious in his Johannesburg home on Friday, 29 December 2023.
May his Soul Rest in Peace KCI had been one of the finest presenters in the country before he left Umhlobo Wenene.

 

 

 
His ability to connect with fans and tell the truth to top officials made him one of the most loved.

In a family statement, his family announced the news of his death, leaving many fans in tears.

Indeed, another significant loss has hit the South African entertainment industry.

FORMER UMHLOBO WENENE FM PRESENTER MTHOBELI ‘KCI’ AUGUST’S DIES
The family spokesperson announced the news, and he detailed a statement on what happened to KCI.

“It is with great sadness that the August family announces the passing of their son Mthobeli KCi August,” it said.

“Mthobeli was found unconscious at his home in Johannesburg on Friday, 29 December 2023.” it continued.

“Mthobeli was a decorated radio presenter who enthralled audiences across South Africa with his unique style of presenting,” the statement reads.

“We ask for privacy during this time of mourning. The funeral details will be announced in due course,” the statement read.

Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala joined a host of celebrities who have paid their tribute to celebrated composer, playwright and actor Mbongeni Ngema.

The 68-year-old thespian died on 27 December 2023 in a horrific head-on collision in the Eastern Cape.

However, in the backdrop of the accident, the Eastern Cape police have since shed more light on the tragedy. On the other hand, the transport department has since opened a case of capable homicide.

Taking to Instagram, the football maestro shared a video with his wife singing one of Ngema’s smash hits and captioned it with a heartfelt tribute. Tshabalala and his wife were doing a duet of his smash hit Stimela SaseZola from his 2002 album ‘Jive Madlokuvu.’
