House of Zwide is a South African television drama series. It is an e.tv. original production, co-produced by The Bomb Shelter and Videovision Entertainment for e.tv. The series stars Vusi Kunene, Khaya Dladla, Nefisa Mkhabela, and Winnie Ntshaba, among others.

On November 24, 2020, it was announced that the long-running e.tv soap opera Rhythm City was being cancelled. The channel said that the decision to end the series was part of a business strategy.

In February 2021, The Bomb Shelter sent out a casting call for the female lead role of the series, which at the time had been unspecified. The lead character is described as an ambitious and independent woman who loves fashion. Entrants had to send a one-minute monologue to The Bomb Shelter via email before February 28.
On June 9, the channel released a press release announcing that House of Zwide would be the replacement for Rhythm City. On June 24th, the channel released the official trailer for House of Zwide.

Some of the actors who are portraying the characters on the show are the directors, writers, and authors of the show, like Brenda Mukwevho, who portrays Dorothy; Londeka Mchunu, who portrays Zanele; Vusi Kunene, who portrays the character of Funani; and Winnie Ntshaba (Faith). She shared how her peers at school accused her of using muthi (traditional medicine) and witchcraft to attain her stellar grades.

These hurtful comments were particularly disheartening for Nomfundo, who had sacrificed sleep and endured sleepless nights in pursuit of her academic goals. Fortunately, she found unwavering support from her mother and uncle, who encouraged her to ignore the noise and stay focused on her future.
