Today’s Update On The Senzo Meyiwa Trial; Advocate Teffo And Judge’s Drama In Court

During the court proceedings on the Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial, Advocate Zandile Mshololo read a letter from the South Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions where the existence of the second docket (docket 375) is confirmed.

However, the letter states that this docket which implicates singer Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandile, and five other people has no merit, because it is merely based on the opinion of a junior state advocate hence the Nation Prosecuting Authority did not pursue it for trial.

If that is bad enough, things started to heat up between Advocate Dan Teffo Malesela and Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela as the advocate argued why the trial can not be postponed yet again after it has been dragged on for 8 years.

After complaining that he feels like the court does not recognize him and was ready to address the court, the judge told Advocate Teffo to wait for Advocate Mshololo to make her application for the trial postponement.

When his turn came to address the court, and argue against the state’s submission that the second docket has no merit, Judge Maumela told Teffo that he can only address him on this argument after a formal application has been made to the court.

While trying to explain why he is against the admission of the DPP letters as exhibits C1 and C2, Judge Maumela ordered Teffo to sit down if he is not responding on dates and accused him of undermining him in the court.

In response, Teffo told the judge that he is not fighting with him, with the judge responded that he is also not fighting. Thereafter, Teffo asked him to withdraw the word fight, which he considered to be a wrong choice of word, but Judge Maumela refused, coting that he is not the one that came up with the word.

A classic gangster funeral as Christopher Jaftha ‘Mike’ bids farewell to Umbuso

In photos, Christopher Jaftha ‘Mike’ bids farewell to Umbuso in a classic mafia funeral.

Mike has been portrayed by Umbuso supporters as MaE’s right-hand man who would lay down his life to protect the family in recent weeks. Mike had demonstrated his affection for Lihle, his boss’s daughter when he refused to kill her abusive husband on her orders. Despite being a kind man, though, his occupation eventually caught up with him.

Mike pursued a connection with Lihle after driving Mothusi out of town, with MaE’s consent. They were even discussing marriage, but Mike wanted to wait until he had found Lihle’s mother’s killer before proceeding. He followed through on his commitment and discovered the truth about Samora’s murder. Caeser’s men attacked him on his way to notify Lihle, and he was left dead in a seated posture for his employer to find.

Mike was given a proper send-off after his death, befitting the mobster he was leaving Lihle to deal with the pain his death had caused her. She refused meals and visits for several days as she mourned her beloved and even blamed herself for his death because he was on a mission to fulfill her request.

Christopher Jaftha, who plays Umbuso, says his goodbyes.

Christopher Jaftha has resorted to Instagram to deliver his final comments to the production staff following the death of his on-screen character Mike. He turned it into a hilarious piece, in which he speculated on what would happen to Lihle after such a traumatic experience. He also jokes that everyone who crosses MaE’s path for vengeance would die by the sword, citing a phrase that says if someone lives by the sword, they will die by one.

On Umbuso, many of his co-stars and cast mates teased him in the comments section. For example, Caeser actor Keke Mphuthi laughed at the caption but praised Mike for putting up a strong fight. Kwanele Mthethwa also said her goodbyes to her on-screen character.
