Black Coffee on his decision to give his life to God

Black Coffee recently bore all on My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose. This was Coffee’s first media interview since his life-altering accident in January.

Following his accident, the Grammy-award-winning DJ had a lot of time to reflect, and one of his decisions was to give his life to God. He shares that this was after an eye-opening conversation with musician-turned-pastor Kabelo Mabalane.

“There is a version of myself that I always wanted to be, but it wasn’t arriving. I always knew the type of guy I wanted to be when I was growing up, and I saw that guy coming together. I wanted to be the kind of guy who knows God and has Jesus in his heart,” shared Black Coffee.

He noted that, as “cool” as his life was, he wasn’t representative of the man he always wanted to be. “I wasn’t that guy. I’m at the most amazing place ever. People get to this place when they are down and out. Kabelo said to me, ‘God never wastes a battle, and this is one. You are not in a place of weakness, but in a place of power. People ask for this moment in rehab, the hospital, or jail. It is a step I wanted to take publicly for myself. It is one of the most exciting things for me because I like starting something and excelling at it.”

Black Coffee also shared the details of his accident and why he believes his marriage to Enhle Mbali failed.

Liverpool supporters lose it over Siya casually chilling with Klopp

South African Liverpool supporters are losing it after seeing Springbok Captain Siya Kolisi casually chilling with the English Football Club’s manager, Jürgen Klopp.

Siya, who is an ardent Liverpool supporter, brushed shoulders with Klopp at an Adidas event, which both sporting giants were part of the panel.

The two-time Rugby World Cup winner just signed with Adidas, and got to hang out with Klopp shooting some promotional videos and pictures.

Since sharing pictures of himself just casually chilling with Klopp, local Liverpool supporters flooded Siya’s comments begging him to convince Klopp to stay at the end of the season.

“Please convince him to stay😭😭😭”

“Bru. Just chilling with Jurgen like old homies.”

“Tell Jurgen to stay man smh😤😂😂😂”

“How does it feel, to live, my, dream?!🙂😭❤️”

Jürgen Klopp announced he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, due to personal reasons, which includes “feeling like he’s running out of energy.”

Liverpool supporters are not ready to let the phenomenal manager go, and many have not come to terms with Klopp’s decision to leave the club.

Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015 and has gone on to transform the club into the powerhouse football club that they currently are.

Through this tenure at Liverpool, Klopp has guided the English side on to lift the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Community Shield, and more recently a 10th Caraboa Cup.

South Africans delaying marriage because of uncertain job market

South Africans are delaying marriage – sometimes indefinitely – because of the uncertain job market.

Andrew Fulton, Director at Eighty20 joins Gugulethu Mfuphi on Kaya Biz to shares the recent trends from the Census 2022 Population Count.

The Census report which was released in October 2023, counted 62 027 503 people across 17.8 million households and shows a change in household dynamics, marriage behaviour and ultimately birth rates across different segments of the country’s population.

Not only are South Africans having smaller families, but the birth rate has also dropped, meaning the level of fertility at which a population replaces itself is coming down.

The reasons for the decline in birth rates during the past few decades include postponed family formation and child-bearing and a decrease in family sizes, but also improved medical care, especially birth control, sanitation, water supply, diet and lower child mortality.

This coupled with the cost of having children which has skyrocketed over the past few decades are why more South Africans are not just delaying marriage, but delaying having children.

“The median age for brides has increased from 31 in 2015 to 33 in 2021.

Oince again, t costs a bit of money to get married, particularly in some societies. There’s the high cost of living, so it’s a question of whether you can afford to bring somebody else and children into your life?

Social norms are also changing, and people are opting not to get married. They might still be having children, but they are not getting married.

The other stat that was very interesting is that 70% of new births are happening outside of marriage, so yes, there’s definitely a change in marriage trends in SA.
