Menzi Ngubane, renowned for his roles in various television productions, including the iconic soap opera Generations, bid farewell to the world on March 13, 2021, at the age of 56. Reports from SowetanLIVE at the time revealed that his untimely demise was attributed to a stroke he suffered earlier that morning.

In a heartfelt statement released by the family, it was disclosed that Menzi Ngubane was laid to rest in a poignant ceremony in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, later that month. Adding to the poignancy of the occasion, he was interred alongside his father, Ndodeni Ngubane, who passed away just three days after him.

Reflecting on their final moments together, Sikelelwa Ngubane reminisced about their last telephone conversation, where Menzi expressed his weariness and desire for eternal rest. Little did she know that it would be their final exchange. “Today marks 3 years ungasekho emhlabeni [without you on earth] Dali [my love],” she wrote, capturing the lingering sense of loss.

“I am keeping strong for our girls by God’s grace, one day this all will make sense, but for now, I still have so many questions,” she continued, echoing the universal struggle to find solace in the face of profound grief.

Menzi Ngubane’s passing was a result of his prolonged battle with diabetes and kidney failure, a reality that Sikelelwa Ngubane acknowledges with a heavy heart. “Continue to rest Mbomvu, Myaluza, Somahhashi, Zikode Elimhlophe [clan names],” she expressed, emphasizing the enduring presence of his spirit in their lives.

Despite the profound loss, Sikelelwa Ngubane continues to honor her husband’s memory through her own endeavors, including her involvement in Showmax’s poignant new series, Widows Unveiled. The show, which delves into the lives of five women who were married to prominent South African public figures, including Menzi Ngubane, offers a platform for these widows to share their experiences and challenge the stigma surrounding widowhood.

Joining a cast that includes Lerato Sengadi, Mpho Tshabalala, Fundiswa Molefe, Lerato Maphatsoe, and Sikelelwa Ngubane, the series sheds light on the often overlooked struggles faced by widows in society. As Mpho Tshabalala aptly expressed, “I realized that widowhood is treated like a plague. No one ever wants to talk about it, but it’s a day-to-day reality for millions of people.”

In honoring the memory of Menzi Ngubane and embracing her role in Widows Unveiled, Sikelelwa Ngubane continues to carry forward his legacy of resilience, compassion, and unwavering strength in the face of adversity.

Ngiyayeka ke mina’- Little boy refusing to study for 12 more years

One thing about the kids? they will refuse to go to school, however, this is normal during the first month of going back or starting school. Most parents have been relieved from the morning cries that were made by their kids as they did not want to go to school.

This does not seem to be the case for a mom who recently shared a video of her kid threatening that he will stop school after finding out that he is still going to study for 12 more years. In the video, the boy asks, “Mama sizophela nini iskole? (Mom when am I going to finish school).”

The mother responds by saying he is still going to be at school for 12 more years which means he will not finish anytime soon.

The boy then replied, ” Hayi ngiyayeka ke mina(No then I am dropping out).”

She posted the video under her TikTok account @nduhdube, in her caption, she wrote, “No he didn’t[laughing emojis]A lot of TikTok users found this video hilarious, they commented:

“Ngiyayekake mina [laughing emoji] the fact that he understood kuthi (that) 12 years mude means akayidingi ngempela indaba yeskole(is long which means he does not need school).”

Another TikTok jokingly said, “ngiyamkhumbula kade ngi-vota naye lo ngo 1994 (I remember him, we voted together in 1994)

“Kanti kungeneni kulezingane nasekhaya kunje, uthi owami useyakwazi ukubhala so asikho isidingo sokufunda(What is wrong with these kids, even at home it is like this. Mine says they known how to write so he does not need to go to school).[laughing emoji],” wrote another user.

Orlando Pirates star goalkeeper Sipho Chaine lost his mother on 9 March when he played against Kaizer Chiefs.

It was a massive day for South African football as fans witnessed a thrilling Soweto derby. It was an electric atmosphere in the FNB Stadium, with the Pirates winning 3-2.

Despite all the football, something sad happened as Chaine lost his mother on the same day. @Diskigalore revealed the news of her passing and left fans in tears.

After the news broke out that Sipho Chaine’s mother had passed away. Some of his fans were left in tears. Some consoled him, but some were not impressed by his decision to play after losing his mother.

@nomusa “May her soul rest in peace condolences to the family 💔”

@Nduduzo Khumalo “Aw phephisa qhawe uNkulunkulu abe nawe nomndeni wonke wako-Chaine💔”

@Seino R-Rover “No wonder he cried so much on that day😭😭😭💔🙏🏻 May her soul rest in peace…xolo bhuti🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻”

@Captain “Sad news, she was always there to cheer his boy up..”CHAINE SHOWS CHARACTER
Despite losing his mother, the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper showed his strong mentality to play the Soweto derby. Indeed, this was something fans loved to see: a player giving his all, even in difficult times.

The Pirates’ goalkeeping department had been under the spotlight since Senzo Meyiwa’s death. Over the years, they failed to find a proper replacement for Senzo, but Chaine made fans believe again.

In October 2023, Chaine left fans in tears, remembering Senzo after he saved penalties in the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns. Some fans claimed that Senzo’s spirit rose in Chaine, and he had been impressed.

Producing such a performance in the Soweto derby and helping the team win after losing a parent was another plus.
