One of South Africa’s award-winning rap artists passed away this week. We are all aware that AKA was one of the hippest and coolest rappers on the continent, and the fashion community has also lost a fashion icon as a result of his death. We have witnessed AKA’s musical and fashion development over time, from when he was a teenager caught up in bad fashion choices and fumbling his way out of style to the refined man who wore tailored suits. Kairo Forbes has a very close relationship with her paternal grandmother compared to her parents. Lynn Forbes whom Kairo Forbes calls “glammy” is the mother of the later rapper, Kiernan Forbes, known as AKA. Kairo and Lynn Forbes travel the world together, try out new restaurants and play together. Kairo Forbes lives with her grandmother and she has stayed with her since she was only two years old. Her Instagram account is managed by her grandmother who is so passionate and patient with creating content for her.It has been a week since Kairo Forbes has lost his beloved father and the excruciating pain is still present. On both her father’s memorial service and funeral she seemed to be very strong and accepting of her father’s death. Kiernan AKA Forbes passed on last week when he got down in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province while he was with his friends celebrating his pre birthday party.

Few minutes ago, The family of Kiernan AKA Forbes has left for his private funeral ceremony as it was planned.

The legacy of South Africa music icon, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes will be honoured in a public memorial and funeral today. His coffin was moving with mortuary vehicle with coffin clearly visible.

There were no dry eyes at the Sandton Convention Centre when many were celebrating AKA’s life and legacy. Speaker after speaker praised the Fela In Versace rapper for his unmatched work ethic, how he loved making music and his love for his daughter Kairo Forbes.

AKA lost his life tragically in Durban on the 10th of February 2023, when he was supposed to perform for the birthday celebration at the Wish On Florida restaurant. He was shot with his friend Tebello who was once his manager.

At the Wish On Florida restaurant there were CCTV footages and the videos were released, then after a few days they were trending on social media. People started pointing fingers at AKA’s friends mostly Don Design and also the Tembe family. The Tembe family spoke out about these accusations and how they didn’t appreciate it, but Don Design didn’t. They accused Don because he was seen yawning on the CCTV video. On the 17th of February, during the memorial service of the late Kiernan AKA’s mother,

 

 

 

Lynn Forbes said she loves Don Design and takes him as her son and also said that people on social media will always have something to say. During the funeral which was today on the 18th of February, while friends were pouring soil on AKA’s grave Don Design poured Hennessy, maybe this means AKA loved Hennessy.
