Author Melinda Ferguson claims she consulted with many people close to AKA and Anele Tembe.

Award-winning author Melinda Ferguson of the newly released book When Love Kills – The Tragic Tale of AKA and Anele opened up about having spoken to several close sources to get more details for her book, The Citizen reported.

AUTHOR MELINDA FERGUSON SHEDS MORE LIGHT ON HER BOOK
Rapper AKA was assassinated in Durban on 10 February last year. On the other hand, in 2021, Anele Tembe allegedly committed suicide and fell from the 10th floor at the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town. At the time of Anele’s death, she was with and engaged to the slain rapper.

Melinda Ferguson’s book When Love has finally been released and will be available nationwide sometime this week. This comes after its cover was leaked on social media a few days ago.

AKA’s family have since distanced themselves from the book as seen in their statement. According to the Forbes family, the book is “distasteful and opportunistic”.

“We are not in any way associated with Melinda Ferguson’s book and we do not endorse it. In the same breath, we distance ourselves from the contents of the book. When Melinda reached out to us, we respectfully and rightfully declined to contribute to her book,” the Forbes family statement read.

According to the publication, the book’s author has shared that she allegedly did speak to Anele Tembe’s father Moses Tembe as well as other people close to AKA who told her some “unflattering” things about the late rapper.

“I spoke to Moses Tembe and I spoke to people close to Kiernan, but most of those people didn’t want to be named. People are scared because AKA was assassinated, and people are reluctant to be identified. While they might have told me unflattering things, nobody wanted to look like they were betraying AKA,” Ferguson was quoted as saying.

“Moses was a father in grief and I spent valuable time with him as he walked through painful memories,” Ferguson reportedly added.‘: MORE ABOUT THE BOOK
Meanwhile, Manqoba Zulu, a spokesperson of the Tembe family said that the family did not commission the writing of the book. “The Tembe family did not commission the writing of the book and did not contribute to it in any way. The book is therefore Melinda’s own view based on her own research,” Zulu said.

However, during a recent sit down with the SABC, Moses Tembe said because AKA was with his daughter when she died, he would have loved to have him “in the box” as a witness or as an accused.

“It has always been critical to have Kiernan in the box, whether as a witness or as an accused, for proper closure required that the last person who was with our daughter to take the stand,” Moses said during the exclusive interview.
