The Bloemfontein Magistrates Court has postponed the bail application of Dr Nandipha Magudumana and her 5 co-accused in the Thabo Bester prison escape matter to 11-12 May

Dr Nandipha seems to havemade peace with her new life. She’s not hiding under hoodies and behind face masks anymore. Unlike previous appearances, Magudumana was put at the back of a police van this morning and brought to court. But that did not dampen her spirits, the girl made sure she served looks…edges laid, skin glowing and lipgloss applied.

The two former G4s control room operators who were arrested on Monday joined Dr Nandipha Magudumana and others in the dock. They have been identified as Tieho Frans Makhotsa and Nastassja Jansen. In a twist of events, the NPA dropped the murder charge in the Thabo Bester escape case. Instead there are 16 charges against the accused – including corruption, fraud, defeating the ends of justice and violation of a body. Among other revelations made in court today, it was also revealed thar Dr Nandipha and Thabo Bester offered prison guard R105 000 to help with escape. It has also been revealed that Dr Nandipha has dropped ISHMAIL ATTORNEYS and is now represented by a defence team led by Advocates Machini Motloung and Frans Dlamini.

The court adjourned and when it came back in session, the prosecutor told Magistrate that while the state was ready to proceed with bail applications, the development of new accused requires the state to postpone so that information can be gathered in terms of the new accused. Magistrate ruled that the bail applications of all of the accused will now be heard on 11 and 12 May. If it’s not finished, further dates will be discussed, the state said.

Meanwhile, people are calling for Nike to ban Dr Nandipha from wearing their branded clothes. ” People shouldn’t be deceived by her innocent looks, she is nefarious and evil hearted. Nike should stop her from wearing their clothing line. That’s bad publicity for the brand. I see another law suit pending”, a Twitter user said.

Somizi Mhlongo aka Somgaga steals the show

Somizi Mhlongo has fast become one of South Africa’s finest. However, he has had his fair share of drama, from marital woes to cancel culture. Despite all these, he has managed to sail through the storm, and at 50, he continues to shine like never before. Against the backdrop of his wins, Mhlongo has often opened up on how he has managed to stay relevant in the media industry for years.

In 2021 Somizi’s illustrious career took a toll when he was implicated in marital woes, which saw his “estranged” husband Mohale Motaung levelling abuse allegations at him. Against these allegations, he was forced to step back from his gigs. He had to drop the mic on Metro FM and Idols SA.

With the matter reportedly under the carpet, Somizi has since bounced back to his former glory. He marked his return to Metro FM with two gigs, The Bridge and The Weekend Breakfast Sounds Good. The bubbly media personality will also headline the Black Curtain at the annual Metro FM Music Awards.

“I am 50 and I’m at the peak of my career. I’m like the ‘it girl’ who just arrived. For me, that is what makes my career exciting and interesting. If anyone has lost hope, look at my career. I have had ups and downs but more than anything there is longevity to this thing. It’s up to you to make it not end. Reports also indicate that he is set to return to the final season of Idols SA, which is slated for this year.

Limpopo man home after 22 years on the Joburg streets

After living on the streets for 22 years, a homeless man in Johannesburg has been reunited with his family in Tzaneen with the help of the Balfour Park community. Hakani Ndlovu, 45, came to Johannesburg in 2001 in search of work, but his situation soon turned dire. Ndlovu survived by begging and taking on piece jobs whenever possible, but the constant harassment from law enforcement meant he could not stay in one place.

He eventually ended up living in makeshift structures around Balfour Park. Fortunately, a few community members noticed that Ndlovu was able to communicate properly and that he could recount how he ended up on the streets. They organised help for him with their local councillor, Belinda Echeozonjoku, who helped track down Ndlovu’s family.

“The community members told me that he was not on drugs, that he was not crazy, and that he could recite his ID number. We bought clothes for him and made sure that he got a proper clean-up; we then placed him on a taxi back to his village,” said Echeozonjoku. Ndlovu made contact with Balfour Park residents to inform them that he had made it home safely, and the DA team in Tzaneen also confirmed that Ndlovu had arrived and was well-received by his community.

This heartwarming story sheds light on the issue of homelessness in Johannesburg, a city that serves as the country’s economic hub. While homelessness is on the rise, the lack of shelters in the city poses a significant challenge. Despite Ndlovu’s struggles, he was able to foster long-term relationships within the community, where residents provided him with clothes, blankets, and meals.

It is surprising that Ndlovu survived for so long without proper support, enduring robbery, assault, and losing his belongings, including his identity document. Every morning, he stood by the robots of Balfour Park shopping mall and asked different people for assistance to go back home.

Thabo Bester ex-lawyer has made a big mistake

Thabo Bester, who is currently facing corruption charges, is having difficulty finding a lawyer to represent him in court. So far, two attorneys have withdrawn from the case, and it is not clear if he will have legal representation by his next court appearance on May 16. It seems that no advocate is willing to risk their profession by representing him.

According to Tshireledzo Ndou, one of Bester’s former attorneys, the relationship with his client had broken down, and funding was one of the reasons for their withdrawal. However, Ndou did not reveal more details as he argued that there are certain issues that are not meant to be divulged concerning clients awaiting trial.

Bester’s latest advocate, Tsoeunyane Jeremiah Pela, has also allegedly withdrawn from the case after being asked about the tender fraud and corruption trials he is facing. This leaves Bester at the mercy of advocates who will be provided by the state if he can no longer afford one for himself.

Critics are questioning what happened to all the millions of money that Bester is alleged to have made through scamming people. When he was arrested in Tanzania intending to start a new life in the US, he had a lot of money. Now, Bester claims he has no funds, raising suspicions about his claims.

The situation highlights the challenges of the legal system in South Africa and the difficulties that individuals face in accessing justice. Bester’s case raises important questions about the fairness of the justice system and the need for effective legal representation for all individuals, regardless of their social or economic status.
