DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, is a South African record producer and DJ. He was born on November 14, 1987, in Soshanguve, a township in Pretoria, South Africa.

DJ Maphorisa is best known for his contributions to the genres of amapiano, house music, and Afrobeat. He gained international recognition through his collaboration with Nigerian artist Wizkid on the hit song “Soweto Baby” in 2016.
