In a statement released by the organisers on Monday, 31 July, Kelly will no longer be performing at the daytime family-friendly picnic style event taking place on 12 August at Emmarentia Botanical Gardens, Johannesburg.

“We have noted, with concern, various comments on social media platforms and calls from many patrons of our festival.

“We respect the legal processes and wish to indicate that Ms. Kelly Khumalo is innocent until proven otherwise.

“However, in the interest of safeguarding our festival, management has taken the decision to relieve Ms. Khumalo of her obligations to perform at our festival this year to afford her and her team the time they require to deal with the issues emanating from the current court proceedings,” read the statement. The Meyiwa murder trial went into its third week on Monday, with State’s fourth witness, Colonel Lambertus Steyn, being cross-examined.

Last week, Steyn, who is a data analyst and investigation officer at the South African Police Services (SAPS) Cold Case Unit, testified that accused number five (Fisokuhle Ntuli) called Kelly’s number twice before the footballer was kd.However, defense counsel Advocate Zandile Mshololo – who is representing Ntuli – poked holes in Steyn’s testimony on Monday.

When Adv. Mshololo probed about the number Steyn told the court belonged to Ntuli, he admitted it was not RICA’d under the suspect.

Steyn also testified that no one in the Khumalo household called the police or the ambulance after Meyiwa had been shot.

Hungani Ndlovu says ‘Skeem Saam’ wanted new character, Tbose

Former Scandal! actor Hungani Ndlovu discusses social media backlash and replacing Cornet Mamabolo as Tbose Maputla in SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam.Choreographer and Skeem Saam actor Hungani Ndlovu, who plays the new “snobbish” T’bose Maputla opens up about replacing Cornet Mamabolo, who exited the soapie in 2021.

Ndlovu tells TshisaLIVE that the production wanted a new character, still within the walls of T’bose, Kwaito, Kat when he joined the SABC1 soapie in season 12.

His character returned from overseas and experienced a culture shock or a different way of living and became unfamiliar to his friends, family and viewers of the educational soapie.

“I didn’t have to focus on the T’bose that was there before, but rather just focus on what can I bring that would be different. So as much as my homework was to look at some of the previous performances, nuances and how he relates to other characters, from that then my task was how do I create something different?”

He wanted to create something that people will receive in a different way as well, not necessarily trying to fit in the mould of what people knew. The actor adds that he knew that the first Tbose spoke Sepedi 100% of the time and changed that by not speaking Sepedi 100% of the time. The soapie Skeem Saam assured viewers that actor Hungani Ndlovu, who plays the role of Tbose Maputla hasn’t left for good.

This was after fans of the educational soapie wondered if Ndlovu left the show after the Friday, 28 July episode, where he left Turfloop.

A fan @lulumyakayaka tweeted: “Is Tbose leaving for good?” and the soapie replied: “He’ll be back.”

His wife Mapitsi Maputla also revealed that she’s going to miss her husband and that six months is a long time to be without him.

Viewers of the soapie are also unsure if the popular character has gone back to Singapore or has gone to Cape Town for work

“As the province, we didn’t just wake up and sign our own Limpopo liquor act. We are one of the two provinces that I think are still operating in terms and in line with [the] national liquor act of 1989 which I think is a problem to some of the things that we are experiencing on a daily basis; the number of the crime rates that we are experiencing as a province and all the other social allies; so, we are trying to synchronize the processes,” Monama said during an interview on Newzroom Afrika.
