Usher is undeniably one of the most famous American singers with hit songs like Confessions, Burn, Yeah! My Boo, Love in this Club, and more. He also recently dropped a bagging single with U.S. actress Keke Palmer titled Boyfriend.

The statement had South African netizens showering him with praise for his pronunciation of the genre. However, others couldn’t help but wonder which of the singer’s songs were influenced by the South African genre.

“…Coming to our original home, the Motherland. And all of those things started to sneak their way into my music. Whether it was the algorithms of the songs or the rhythm and beat of what was going on with Amapiano and Afro beats. All of those things began to instigate my creativity,” he said.

While many people might be surprised to hear Usher talking about Amapiano music. It appears he is quite familiar with the genre. According to SowetanLive, in 2021, he was spotted behind the scenes of a video shoot with L’Officiel Hommes Italia magazine dancing to Sponono by DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
