WHO WAS TIBZ?

Tibz, who was born in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, was praised for glamorizing hip hop and ran an events company before discovering his passion for food. The idea of bringing diverse people together who share a love of food was what inspired him to become a chef. At his pop-up restaurant, Café Tibz, he also worked as a chef. He stated in one of his interviews: The majority of us come from various parts of the country, so sharing a table to enjoy a meal allows us to share both our past and present experiences. Sitting at the table is always an opportunity to connect.

TIBZ IS PASSIONATE ABOUT AKA

In an interview that he gave to Dj Sbu a while back, Tibz revealed that he was not only AKA’s manager but also a fan of the singer’s music. He said he always looked at things from a consumer’s perspective, and even though he managed artists, he made sure he liked what they had to offer. When you think back, I was a fan of AKAI before I was his manager, and I still am. Authenticity and faith in the product are the two factors. I can’t tell you about suits or sneakers if I don’t wear suits. I met AKA through Kamza from I.V. League. When I told him that I needed new music for my show, he told me about Kiernan. From that point on, he would get me going and do some freestyles, which was the beginning of our relationship. Tibz once stated, “I realised that I was managing this guy, but there was just no formal process; everything was just organic.” Tibz was no longer an AKA member when they died.
