So it all comes to this after a long moment of waiting: the Miss Universe competition is underway but South Africans are disappointed with just one thing.
The reigning Miss South Africa Ndavi Nokerri has touched down in the USA and she’s ready to take up space on the global stage. However, instead of millions of South Africans celebrating this with her and wishing her the best of luck, it seems like her spotlight was stolen in the very last minute.
Apparently South Africans are not happy because their all-time favorite celebrity Bonang Matheba was snubbed for the Miss Universe gig. Back in 2019 and 2020 there were rumors that Bonang Matheba was the potential host of the Miss Universe competition that took place in Israel.
Fans have waited for the moment for so long, with many agreeing that Bonang Matheba is the perfect choice to host the competition. However to the MU organizers it may have not appeared that way. And now it seems like there’s another person who has been given the gig and the tweeps are not happy.
Taking to Twitter, many fans have expressed their disappointment. Still there are those who do not see anything wrong with the MU organization snubbing Queen B like that. They are saying that Bonang Matheba is a household name only in South Africa and Africa. However on the global stage she hasn’t yet established her brand. So it must not come as a surprise that the Americans do not know what she’s about.
Here are tweets coming from fans expressing their different views.
“I’m not happy for whoever got the Miss Universe hosting gig. It should have been Bonang.”
“South Africans are always funny, in their minds am sure they think Bonang is known globally, she should have been the host of Miss Universe, relax cupcakes she’s our celebrity… not the world’s.”
“Bonang was gonna represent Africa where she’s a well-known A-Lister. Three of the for hosts are American Z-Listers that I don’t even known. How, when it’s a universal competition?”
