The former Orlando Pirates jersey number 1 who was part of their squad which reached their second CAF Champions League final in 2013 has paid a touching tribute to his late family member who tragedly succumbed to her death at old age.

On Sunday, former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo who was forced to retire at an early age in July 2021 as a result of an eye injury during his spell at now defunct Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila took to his Instagram stories where he shared a rare photo where he was captured alongside his late family member who recently succumbed to her death.
As part of his caption, the 32 year old Soweto born retired footballer who was part of the Orlando Pirates triumphant squad which won a domestic league treble in the 2011/12 season wrote, “Rest well Queen”.

According to Brighton Mhlongo’s player profile on German website 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘵, the former Orlando Pirates number one goalkeeper had a seven digit market value in terms of our South African currency at the height of his playing career during his successful spell at the Houghton based outfit and at Chippa United.
According to the same source mentioned above, the one time league winner with Orlando Pirates had a market value of €350K (R7,39 million) in January 2017 during his spell at the Bucanners and in June 2018 during his playing days at Chippa United.
