OPINION: The death of AKA helped Nadia Nakai’s career to flourish again

Nadia Nakai is one of the most influential media personalities who is popularly known as the owner of Mercha clothing, reality television star but mostly as a rapper.


 

 

 

 

 

She has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade now and has received a numerous awards for almost all her hit songs. Nadia gained recognition through the famous South African artist, Cassper Nyovest, after he had signed her to his record label and recorded various songs with her.As she grew as an artist, her perspective towards so many things along side her values and goals changed and hence she left Cassper Nyovest’s record label to be an independent individual. Nadia Nakai says she wanted to learn independence and master the art of starting and finishing a project by herself. she experienced a downfall in her career and ultimately stopped recording songs but kept on performing the old ones. A myriad of people suggested that she go back to Family Tree because she was getting irrelevant as people fell in love with new music coming from other artists.Nadia Nakai seemed to have focused more on her personal life after she met the late South African rapper, AKA, as she shared that she was planning to build family. Her relationship with AKA was a solid one where she believed she was soon to become a wife and mother but the death of AKA stopped everything from coming to life.After the death of AKA, Nadia Nakai rose to the centre of attention as everyone was feeling sorry for her.

Her videos of crying on the memorial service and the funeral surfaced the internet and thus received a huge following as everyone was concerned about her and wanted to track her progress. She used this to her advantage and started hosting events which are being attended by over a thousand of people.
