DJ Sumbody was one of the pioneers of Ayepyep, a style of music that blends South African house music . He was known for his unique and energetic performances.

DJ Sumbody, a pioneer of the Amapiano style of music, has passed away. Although his family claims that more information about his passing is still ambiguous, unsubstantiated rumors suggest he was shot and died.”

DJ Sumbody, born Nhlanhla Mkhize in Mpumalanga and raised in Soweto, was a pioneer of the Amapiano style of music. He also went by the name Ayepyep and released songs like ‘Smoke’ and ‘The Yola’.

He used to be part of the Winky D collective that also included Kwesta and Big Nuz.

According to The Daily Sun, DJ Sumbody was supposed to appear at The Secret Door nightclub in Pretoria on Saturday night based on his social media activity. Prior to his passing, the Ayepyep artist is seen in an Instagram Stories video smoking a cigar with the message “Back to basics.”
