South African-born star now turned Hollywood actress Thuso Mbedu will be one of the judges for Miss South Africa 2023 pageants, which will take place on Sunday 13 August at the SunBet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria.
Award-winning Mbedu recently won the Independent Spirit Award, the Gotham Award, and the Hollywood Critics Circle Award for her role as Cora in Barry Jenkins’ Underground Railroad. She became the first South African woman to star in an American television series. She also hosts the South African flag high abroad and remains a shining example of what South Africa can offer abroad.
Mbedu will bring her perspective and her experience as a judge at the Miss SA pageants, encouraging her participants to embrace their uniqueness and walk with pride.
L’Oréal Paris said in a press release that her presence would encourage contestants to focus not only on her outer beauty, but also on her inner strength and resilience.
“We are delighted to announce the talented South African actress @ Thuso.Mbedu as L’Oréal Paris newest brand ambassador and spokesperson,” the post reads.
Thuso Mbedu started at the bottom now she is reaping what she sow. She is a living example that dedication and discipline can take you places. She is really an epitome of beauty and hard work.
Mbedu has added the title of beauty pageant judge to her impressive CV. The star’s fans jumped with bliss after it was recently announced that she would be joining the Miss South Africa judging panel.
Social media is filled with mixed reactions from people. Many said Thuso Mbedu is ineligible to be part of the Miss South African judging panel. In response to the post shared by MD News, fans suggested that the former Miss SA could be chosen for the opportunity.
Anyway people always have something or someone to criticise. Thuso Mbedu has done well for herself. Even though she has never become Miss SA before, if the people who were choosing who’s going to be on the judging panel think she deserves the opportunity, then who can oppose that? No one.
