South African rapper Nadia Nakai is still reeling from the loss of her boyfriend Kiernan “AKA” Forbes who was murdered earlier this year. The musician has opened up about her feelings regarding the loss multiple times and continues to do so. In a recent interview, she also discussed how grateful she is that she still has a relationship with AKA’s only child, 9-year-old Kairo Forbes.

 

 

Speaking to local musician L-Tido on his podcast, she shared kind words about Kairo and her mother Zinhle Jiyane.

Most of South Africa have been mourning the loss of talented rapper AKA who was gunned down in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on 10 February this year.

The Composure hitmaker was killed alongside his close friend and former manager Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane outside Wish on Florida restaurant.

His passing sent shockwaves across the country as many wondered what the motive for the murder is.

In the mean time, his girlfriend Nadia Nakai dedicated dozens of posts to AKA who she was dating for just over a year at the time of his passing.Recently she sat down with Dlala Ka Yona hitmaker L-Tido to discuss life with and after AKA.

One of the things the musicians spoke about is Nadia’s ongoing relationship with Kairo Forbes — AKA’s only daughter.

According to Nadia, she is grateful to still have a relationship with Kairo even after his passing.

“It’s so special. I’m so grateful I can still have a relationship with Kairo. I am so grateful she was not completely removed out of my life. I know maybe in the future she’s going to probably call me auntie. She has a mom, a very strong and powerful mom.”She also added how when she first started dating AKA, she was very respectful to any boundaries DJ Zinhle might have had regarding her relationship with Kairo.

“I’m happy we were able to build a relationship when Kiernan was still alive because she was around a lot. I’m happy I was able to spend time with her, and it wasn’t awkward because I said from the beginning if Zinhle is not OK with me meeting Kairo I don’t want that to happen because I know how it can make someone feel weird,” she said.
