Rumours have emerged that Maskandi singer, Khuzani Mpungose has allegedly stole something and used it as his own.
Khuzani Nkosikhona Mpungose is a South African media personality known for coming from KwaZulu Natal. He is popular known for being the best when coming to Maskandi and once bagged the song of the year (2020) award. Khuzani has given Mzansi albums such as Bahlukene Bonke, Amampunge and others. Khuzani is being accused of stealing a song from Ndabo Mbatho.
It is alleged by Ndabo that regardless of the names of the songs being different, Khuzani released a song exactly like his.
Ndabo Mbatha on allegations that Khuzani stole his song with the title “Lasuka” said “I registered this song with The Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO)and have been performing it. But two weeks ago, i learnt that Khuzani stole my song”.
“I was actually informed by my followers and friends that Khuzani is performing my song as if it’s his. I listened to the song he was performing and i realised we had stolen my work. I know it’s my song because the beat, the lyrics and everything from his song is the same as mine”, Mbatha added.
Khuzani Mpungose responding to allegations said, “I’m aware of his complaint and it’s true that these songs are similar but he can’t claim ownership as it’s an old song which was already in the public domain”.

The song might have already been in the public domain but if it is indeed true, Khuzani had no right to use it exactly how Ndabo used it. Yes beats and lyrics are always used by different singers but not in the same way. However, the publishers of songs are also wrong as they are supposed to check the songs before they approve and release them.
