However, she could not secure enough votes to qualify her as an Idols SA finalist. Twitter was abuzz with people vying for her to grab the number one spot, showering her with love and encouragement, and most believed this was not the end of the road for the singer.

A Twitterati commented:
The way Mpilo was so stress-free about her eviction, she literally knows her future is already secure. A banger single, JR ready to sign her and I’m sure a lot more waiting for her

This is Mpilo. She has a smooth voice. She is talented. A beautiful melody of a person. I can’t wait to see more of her. Mpilwenhle is her name. Show her some love,

Before being eliminated, Mpilo performed her funky, amapiano-inspired love jam Ngiyazifela, which producer Oskido described as “something different and fresh”. She nailed her staging to perfection and impressed the audience with her dance moves.

All three judges were impressed, with Thembi Seete saying:

“We all know you can sing, but what blew me away was the choreography, attitude and confidence on stage. You are on another level. What a beautiful song.”

Group performance
The previously eliminated top 7 contestants — CeeJay, Kabelo, Lerato, Noxolo, Tesmin-Robyn, Ty Loner, and Zee — performed the Q-Mark, TpZee, Afriikan Papi, and Cloud9ne hit Paris.

Season 16 top 5 contestants Ndoni also brought fantasy to the stage after performing Angfuni Omunye.

Nozi took on Mango Groove’s Moments Away before later performing her song of the season, Jennifer Hudson’s Giving Myself.
