Mzansi ‘DJ Olwee’ Olwethu Mlotshwa ditches Living the dream with Somizi

Olwethu Mlotshwa is famously known as a club DJ who works under the stage name DJ Olwen. Besides being DJ, the entertainer has also made a name for himself in the Television industry. He is famously known for producing and directing Reality Television shows, Being Bonang and Somizi Mhlongo’s Living the dream with Somizi. A new season of Somizi’s show is rumored to be in production and Olwethu Mlotshwa ditches Living the dream with Somizi.


 

 

 

According to entertainment news reporter Phil Mpela, Living the dream with Somizi is working on a new season. However, it looks like the show’s fifth season is coming back without Olwethu Mlotshwa as the director. The gifted director and producer who has worked on two famous reality TV shows so far will not come back to the show for unknown reasons.

The show started airing in 2016 and has fast worked on all its four seasons disrupted by the global pandemic. Somizi Mhlongo has allowed us to peek into his extraordinary life through the show and many viewers enjoy the show. He shows his fast-paced life, charity work, and daily jobs. The reality show can be found on Showmax for streaming all seasons.

Olwethu Mlotshwa knew that he wanted to be in the entertainment industry when he was in High School. He specialized in English and Geography when he was in school. He started as a dancer, but fast realized that the path was not for him because he lacked ambition in that career direction. However, when he got to University, Olwethu Mlotshwa joined UJFM as a newsreader from 2008 to 2011. In 2014 he got a job as a DJ and got a job as a production assistant.

Olwethu has spoken up about being stereotyped as a gay person in the entertainment industry. He says that some people would look at him disapprovingly and expect him to play pop music on his sets which is the opposite of the house music he likes to play. He claims that his taste in music was influenced by his uncle, who is into house music. Later he started branching out his career into television, where he has worked and a director and producer
