Mzansi, AKA And Others Reacts To The Death of Upcoming Artist Tumi Tladi

The rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, cameraman, and dancer’s family confirmed his death Sunday. They called him “creative and enthusiastic” with a bright future.

Tumi Tladi (30) died this morning (10 July 2020) in Johannesburg. He leaves behind his parents, five siblings, a niece, and nephews.

 

“He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and the entertainment business,” the statement read.

The Tladi family has sought privacy and prayers throughout their grief and burial preparations.

Tumi started making music in 2015 after becoming a choreographer. Punchline 2015 was his first single.

In 2012, he shot a music video in Los Angeles as a dancer for Willow and Jaden Smith.

He’s since danced with Cassper Nyovest.

While he’s published other songs, he’s most known for Basadi and Presidential alongside Nadia Nakai.

Dumelang, Strong Enough starring Tyler ICU, Basadi featuring Rouge and Moozlie, and Presidential with Nadia Nakai and Mustbedubz are recent hits.

Tumi, son of South African entrepreneur Peter Tladi, choreographed for Cassper Nyovest at age 11.

In 2012, he danced in a music video for Willow and Jaden Smith, daughters of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, in Los Angeles, USA.

Since his death, fans and industry colleagues have flooded Twitter with tributes. His star power was rising and he was headed for fame.

DJ/producer Zan D, AKA, JR, and Nkanyezi Kubheka shared their grief on Twitter.

“We had so many ideas, but the higher power had other ones for you.” Tumi Tladi was real. He was illuminated. He made progress. Zan D tweeted, “He was ready to own those stages.”

AKA and JR both posted, “Rest in Peace, my boy” Death be not proud”; Nkanyezi: “I spoke to Tumi Tladi yesterday.” I’m really hurt, can’t believe this.”
