Who does that though, paying Lobola to the ancestors. It has never happened before, that is why it came as a shock to Mahlalentabeni’s family as well as the viewers around South Africa. Maseko wants to pay Lobola for Mahlalentabeni’s ancestors so that he can have an access to them just like his first wife. He did not send the elders to her house but he sent his wife to tell her family which was the second mistake he did.

Mahlalentabeni’s family refused and told her it is not going to happen. It never happened before that someone pays Lobola to the ancestors. Mahlalentabeni’s mother says she does not trust Maseko on what he wants to do with her ancestors and she will never allow Maseko to pay them. I like the fact that Mahlalentabeni’s mom is smart and she knows what things must be done and the things that must not be done. Maseko is going to be very disappointed to know that he was denied an access to his first wife’s ancestors. The big question to Mahlalentabeni’s family was that, what does he want to do with them?

 

 

Mahlalentabeni does not know where she stands, when she is with Maseko she agrees with him to pay for Lobola but after meeting her family she now agrees with them. She never stands up against Maseko even when he is in the wrong, then how is she going to tell him what her family said. Mahlalentabeni is old and she should know better and not let anyone take an advantage of her because she is really nice person but changes her personality very often. Her ancestors belongs to her family and she does not have to leave with them just because she is now married.
