In sweeping new changes, the station announced that Muvhango, which will be celebrating its 14th birthday this year, will retain its 9 PM slot. However, the Word of Mouth produced soapie will only air new episodes between Monday and Wednesday.

The changes seem to be an indictment of the soapie’s dropping viewership numbers. It seems hard to imagine but barely one year ago, Muvhango’s viewership surged and the show had a massive 5 million viewers in March 2020, during the coronavirus induced national lockdown.ome have previously opined that the show’s viewership ratings have been declining because they’re not giving their viewers what they want. Some viewers were not happy with the way great actors were leaving the show, either through resignations or through having their characters killed off the show with the major talking point being the resignation of‌ Khathu Ramabulana who played Hulisani (Rendani’s husband) in October.

We hope that the producers of the show will be able to right the ship and bring it back to its glory days.
