The Mseleku family has been on our screens for years now and the sole reason for their publicity has been polygamy. Musa Mseleku has four wives. MaCele, Mayeni, MaKhumalo and MaNgwabe. Their show Uthando Nes’thembu shows us the reality.
This week however, the polygamist supporter was celebrating one wife in specific.
Busisiwe Mseleku is the first wife and matriarch of the family. She’s often seen as the coldest one of the wives but for me, I’ve always seen another side. A woman who loved her husband so much she allowed him to bring three more women into their marriage. It isn’t something most people would do.
To celebrate their big day, Musa Mseleku posted their picture on his Facebook with a simple caption, “She was only 22 years INdlunkulu Mamkhulu MaCele it’s 20 years today” alongside an adorable picture of the two of them. It was likely as romantic as he would get about that.
MaCele has since had four children with Mseleku and forms part of the show, “Igumbi Lamakhosikazi”. It is a show where she, MaKhumalo and Mayeni discuss issues that affect married women and it is executive produced by their husband. It airs every Monday at 9pm.
Personal Thoughts
I love that her husband posted her. I often wonder if that becomes awkward in a polygamous family. Where there is jealousy involved and competing for their husbands affection, it likely breeds animosity. It’s clear that Musa appreciates his first wife and gives her the rightful place. She may not be a fan favourite like fellow sister wife Thobile Mseleku but I still have great respect for her.
