Simbarashe Mutsahuni Chikore, son-in-law to the late former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe, has just revealed the unbelievable extent of the family’s wealth. From cash hidden away in Dubai to riches both in Zimbabwe and abroad, Chikore has spilled all in his counterclaim for a divorce settlement of at least US$500,000.

Their marriage, which took place in 2014, was a grand affair attended by over 4,000 guests, including three heads of State, family, friends, and dignitaries from across southern Africa. The extravagant event, which was beautifully orchestrated and filled with color, was even broadcast live on State-run ZBC TV, earning its place in Zimbabwe’s history books.

But now, the fairy tale has come to a screeching halt, as Bona, Mugabe’s daughter, filed for divorce in March of this year, citing irretrievable breakdowns in the marriage and making serious allegations against her husband. As the divorce proceedings unfold, the Mugabe family’s wealth and influence are sure to be under intense scrutiny. Simba Chikore and his wife Bona are going through a tough time as they consider getting a divorce. Chikore, however, has made it clear that he still loves his wife and doesn’t want to end their marriage.

Bona had requested an immediate divorce, hoping to split their property separately. But Chikore is not willing to let go of their belongings that easily. In fact, he’s listed their assets, which include property, cash, and other valuables, amounting to over US$1 billion! Chikore even disclosed that they jointly own 21 farms, which is quite impressive. He also revealed that they have immovable property worth more than US$19 million. The couple even had some inputs for their farm that they purchased using loans acquired for farming. Chikore is adamant that everything should be shared equally, and he’s willing to disclose all their assets in court. It’s a complicated situation, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
