It’s just been announced that there’s a new edition to the e.tv Scandal family. TV Mzansi announced on their Twitter account that MTV Shuga actress Lerato Walaza will be joining the hit drama.
Lerato Walaza will be playing the character of Gugu – an adventurous woman who strives to explore new ways of living. However, this doesn’t drive her away from her roots. What’s even more exciting about the announcement is that she makes her debut tonight.

Walaza is a South African actress popular for her appearance on MTV Shuga where she had a recurring role as Zamo – a struggling single parent trying to her raise her child. This was when the show went into a mini-series to highlight issues surrounding Covid19.

The Tshwane University of Technology graduate has also appeared in the film Letters of Hope which was screened at the Johannesburg Film Festival in 2019.
Scandal is one of South Africa’s most-watched television shows. It is set at a fictional media house called NFH based in Johannesburg and producers the newspaper The Voice and gossip mag Scandal. It follows the lives of the families working at NFH. It also shows the struggles of the lower class citizens and how they navigate poverty.
Another talented actress, or rather duo, to join et.v Scandal was the beautiful Cindy Mahlangu and actor Sandile Mahlangu. The two Mpumalanga born stars play lovers and con-artists, Violetta and Simo.
It’s an exciting time for South African television as we’re seeing more and more young people being cast in big shows. Ever since Blood and Water and Gomora we are seeing new talent in abundance. Scandal! has actually been one of those shows put unknown talent on. From the likes of Hungani Ndlovu, Bohlale, Stephanie Sandows but to name a few.
