Miss South Africa facing backlash just after a few weeks of being crowned

Just a few weeks back South Africa crowned new Miss South Africa. Lalela Mswane took the reigns of this magnificent pageant. Lalela was brilliant in answering questions, her mission statement stood out. She made it very visible she was there for the crown which later she got. Her posture and stage presence are incomparable she has a good character befitting to be Miss South Africa.

However there were calls made for Miss SA to Boycott and withdraw from the Miss Universe peagent that’s taking place in Israel. As per tradition the winner of the South African pageant participates in the Miss Universe pageant. Most South African believe Israel is an apartheid state.

However one would argue that probably the boycott should be made against the organisers of the Miss Universe pageant. The boycott should be about the pegeant being hosted somewhere else. It shouldn’t be about people giving up their dreams. Probably Miss SA has always wanted to walk on the Miss Universe’s stage. With her taking part means it is possible for every child.

The organisers of the Miss SA pageant have responded to the Boycott and they’ve declared that the reigning Miss SA will fly to Israel and will participate in the pageant. Most people are missing the point though, how does Miss SA boycotting help Palestine. Does it mean the pegeant will be stopped just cause Miss SA will not be participating?

Wouldn’t it be selfish of them to make her withdraw from her dreams. Isn’t she representing hope, isn’t she the voice of South Africa. What if she gets asked a question that relates to the current situation between Israel and Palestine wouldn’t she then make her voice heard concerning the matter. What most people are calling Miss SA out for are doing the very same thing to her. They are bullying her and are discriminating against her.

The pageant will take place on the 12th of December hopefully Miss SA won’t be affected by the backlash she has received and will be ready to make her voice heard and represent South Africa.
