South African actor Musa Ngema, famously known for his role as “Mazwi Moroka” on the popular soapie, Generations: The Legacy, has been fired from the show after nine years. The actor was reportedly let go due to his difficult attitude and strained relationship with fellow cast members and the crew.
Sources within the soapie have claimed that Ngema was often difficult to work with and had a bad habit of stuttering when pronouncing words. Despite being advised to work on his pronunciation, Ngema allegedly took offense and became more difficult to work with.
The character of “Mazwi Moroka” is set to be killed off next week, and it has been suggested that Ngema will move to another popular soapie, Skeem Saam, where he will play a new character who will reportedly start dating Mapitsi.
Generations: The Legacy has since released a statement addressing Ngema’s departure. The show’s writing department has reportedly worked hard to ensure that the exit of the character is handled in a way that is true to the story and respectful to fans. The statement also thanked Ngema for his contribution and dedication to the role.
Ngema first joined Generations: The Legacy in 2014 when the show fired 16 cast members who had gone on strike demanding better pay and contracts. Since then, he has become a fan favourite, and his departure is expected to be a big loss to the show.
Cornet Mamabolo, the talented South African actor who recently exited from The River as Lerumo, may be making a return to the popular soapie, Skeem Saam, as Thabo “Tbose” Maputla.
According to sources, Mamabolo expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to portray the character of Lerumo on The River. He said, “Lerumo was that role that I knew I had to fall in love with in order for the audience to genuinely hate. It’s one of those roles that, if the audience really loves you for it, then it simply means you have done a bad job as an actor.”
Mamabolo also thanked the production company and directors for their support and guidance during his time on The River. He expressed his appreciation for the actors he worked with, who made it easy for him to understand the world of the show.
