Masukela Is The 6th Accused In Thabo Bester’s Prison Break Saga

Motanyane Masukela who got arrested this week for aiding and abetting the escape of Thabo Bester from prison was in the dock today. He appeared at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.


 

 

 

He was informed by the magistrate that his case will be combined with the others that have been arrested. He will now be accused number six as five others have already made their appears in court.

The accused is another G4S employee linked to Thabo Bester’s escape. His case has been remanded to the 3rd and 4th of May 2023. Masukela appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court this morning.

He is facing charges of assisting an inmate to escape from custody and defeating the ends of justice. The 51-year old, Masukela is accused of having some knowledge of Bester’s intricate web of lies – including how he duped officials to break free.

He told Legal Aid he has no prior convictions and has no pending cases. Masukela will be remanded in custody until May when he is expected to appear with the other accused in the Thabo Bester saga. This include Bester’s girlfriend Nandi Magudumana.

The state says it will oppose bail when they appear for the official hearing. According to his Facebook account, Masukela the sixth accused has been an employee at G4S for close to 20 years.
