The legendary South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Xhosa news anchor/ reader has made a remarkable impact in the news fraternity.

She has reached a huge milestone of 37 years of news reading on television (TV). Her last day on TV was on 30 March 2021, Tuesday evening at 19h00pm on SABC news.


Even the country’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa honored her by giving her farewell a special grandstanding gesture by extending his own national address.

The legend herself, did not just turn heads by her eloquence in her mother tongue language, isiXhosa. She is also anti-aging and another outstanding thing is her love for her traditional attire/ regalia/ umbhaco.

A cake was created for her, paying tribute to her 37 years of being an undisputed legend in South African news anchoring.

The cake was written “Ndinithanda nonke emakhaya,” translation “I love you all at home,” it is her usual signature statement.

She could not hold herself on her final blow of the whistle, she cried.
