This was also around the time she had lost her mother.

Media sources claimed she left the show to venture into politics to keep her late mother Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi’s political dream alive.

However, Gugu Gumede’s exit from Uzalo was never publicly reported by the two parties.
Her character disappeared from the show after the kidnapping of baby Smangaliso which exposed the prophetess to arrests. She was thrown behind bars for 15 years.

When quizzed by her Instagram fans on Tuesday about her return to Uzalo’s Gugu revealed that she was already shooting for her come-back. At one point she said she was already back and her fans should expect to see her very soon.She comes around the time the KwaMashu community is reeling over the alleged death of her husband Nkunzi Mhlongo, played by the talented Masoja Msiza. Nkunzi got poisoned by his colleague in crime Sbu Makhathini played by Simphiwe Majozi.
According to show insiders, Nkunzi did not really die from poison. He is expected to make a come back on the 31st of August as he goes on a revenge mission.
