Malcom X, a philanthropist and socialite, was denied entry to the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ listening session on Thursday, a week after the death of the rapper. Malcolm, who has been a fan of AKA since his first album, says that his management hasn’t given him a chance to listen to his favorite rapper’s last album.
Disappointed by the hospital
Malcolm tells ZiMoja that despite the fact that he was a close friend and one of the people who contributed to his enormous career success, the reception he received at the entrance of the venue where the listening session was held was appalling.
Malcolm stated, “AKA and I treated each with respect and love, and he has always ensured that I am invited to his events.”
Malcolm clarifies that AKA’s family had nothing to do with him being ignored by his management and that they were the ones who ensured that he attended his events.
IN GOOD TIMES WITH AKA’S FAMILY
This is not the first time that Khanyi Mbau’s management has ignored him, according to his former manager. He informed ZiMoja that AKA’s entourage has succeeded this time in disregarding him, as they have always attempted. Malcolm recollects, “His management has always been mean to me, but it got worse after he died.” Because we always treated each other with respect while we were alive, he says, “He must be turning in his grave for this snub.”
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Malcolm claims that his beef with AKA’s longtime manager and friend Tshiamo Letshwene dates back to when Black Coffee slapped the Fela and Versace star at a Polokwane event after a verbal argument. I bumped into Tshiamo while I was with Black Coffee in Sandton following that infamous slap. I made sure Black Coffee apologized to AKA, which he did; however, ever since that day, he has harbored some kind of resentment toward me. Malcolm claims that AKA’s mother asked his publicist to include him on the guest list for the memorial and funeral services, which set off the drama. “I believe that’s the reason he therefore he made sure my name was removed from the list.” However, I was told that someone from AKA’s management had removed my name after I was kept waiting at the reception for 30 minutes. “He claims that he had the option to return home, but he stayed there until a family member fetched him and took him inside.
PR STUNT
Letshwene lost his cool when asked to comment. Before hanging up, he stated, “People tell Malcolm to chill out, we are still mourning, and his PR stunts are annoying.”
The much-anticipated 14-track Mass Country album from AKA came out on Friday morning. Emtee, Sjava, and Yanga Chief are among the artists on the late rapper’s album. In addition, his rapper girlfriend Nadia Nakai is featured. There are four songs on the album: Nasty C’s Lemons (Lemonade), Khuli Chana’s Prada, Paradise, and others. AKA said in a statement a week before his death that one of the songs on his album Paradise was inspired by a fight with Nadia Nakai on Valentine’s Day. He added that it was about pressing the reset button with your partner, clearing the slate, and making things right again, and that this was the beginning of the track.
