As stage six loadshedding began on Tuesday morning, the Minister of Electricity of the Republic of South Africa, Kgosientso Ramokgopa, and his team were criticised by Democratic Alliance member Mmusi Maimane after watching them partying up a storm on stage recently.

Eskom released a statement on X (social media formally known as Twitter) announcing that stage six loadshedding to be implemented from 05:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 5 September.
Daphne Mokwena, Eskom’s interim spokesperson said that two units at Lethabo and Matla power stations will need to be shut down for urgent repairs.
“Breakdowns are currently at 16,210 MW of generating capacity, while the capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 5,894 MW. A generating unit each at Kriel and Medupi power stations was taken offline for repairs. The delay in returning to service a generating unit each at Hendrina and Tutuka power stations is also contributing to the current capacity constraints,” the statement read.
Mmusi Maimane was appalled to see the Minister of Electricity and his team dancing on stage amid the recent loadshedding schedule. He reshared the video of the minister and his team dancing on stage on his timelines and had social media users fuming. Maimane’s social media followers were just as unimpressed with Ramokgopa and the ANC as he was.
“After all this dancing they hit the nation with Stage 6,” he captioned.
