Lotto Star has announced that it has withdrawn as a sponsor of “Love Island SA”.
On Monday, the lottery game website LottoStar announced that it had withdrawn its sponsorship of “Love Island SA” in response to the lack of diversity in the premiere and the backlash from bad production.
On Twitter, the director of LottoStar announced the withdrawal, stating: “Lotto Star has decided to withdraw its Love Island SA sponsorship with respect.
“I wish the show and its contestants a success.”This happens after the show is roasted online on Sunday night, as the premiere episode suffered from production issues and was called in due to lack of diversity.
A statement sent by a DStv spokesperson to IOL Entertainment regarding the criticism said:
“Many channels and thousands of program times we produce prove this.”
A spokeswoman said the show would be characterized by more diversity as more islanders enter the villa.
“Viewers can be confident that this will become more apparent in future episodes of Love Island SA.
“I hope viewers will continue to watch to enjoy the new stars of the show that will arrive in the next few days.”
A spokeswoman said about the audio and video issues that plagued Episode 1, “I understand the viewer’s disappointment with production quality and apologize for the technical issues that occurred on Sunday. Seriously working to resolve them. It is working. “”
The second episode aired on Monday, and many viewers noticed improvements in program editing, but the problem remained.
These included an ad break countdown timer that appeared before and after many ad breaks, sound and editing issues, and the cameraman’s visibility in certain scenes.
IOL Entertainment has contacted DStv regarding a statement about the withdrawal of Lotto Star and is waiting for a reply.
