LATE actress Mary Twala has won an award at the Durban International Film Festival.
The veteran actress was named best actress for her lead role on the Lemohang Moses film, This is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection.
She was described as a matriarch of the film and television industry.
The opening film at this year’s festival described by the panel of judges as a work of art.
For his hard work and dedication, Lemohang scooped awards for Best Direction and Artistic Bravery.

In a previous interview with Daily Sun, festival manager Chipo Zhou said the award-winning film is a co-production between South Africa, Lesotho and Italy.
“It sheds some light on land issues in Lesotho by telling a very personal story through the journey of one woman,” he said.
“It’s sophisticated imagery. The stunning, haunting landscapes that appreciate the depth of the magnificence that is the African landscape and how this was intertwined so effortlessly into the narrative is a true homage to African folklore.”
