MWELASE GIVES PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT?
Casting director Mwelase, accused of being “rude and heartless,” faced backlash as some hopefuls claimed they were cut off abruptly, leaving them disheartened. Sizwe Mbanjwa, one of the 2,000 aspiring actors, expressed his embarrassment and questioned his credibility in the industry after a curt dismissal by Mwelase.

“Right now I am questioning my credibility and worth in this entertainment industry, I have never been so embarrassed,” said Mbanjwa in the report by Sunday World.


 

“Just when I was getting started, that lady (Nompilo Mwelase) from Skeem Saam curtly cut me by saying” “next.””.According to Sunday World, allegations of preferential treatment towards established actors surfaced, with Nozizwe Mdletshe, another rejected hopeful, accusing Mwelase of impatience and unfair practices, leaving some aspiring actors in tears.

“It was heartbreaking to see some kids walking away in tears after that harsh rejection. Imagine being turned away like that after having gone through grueling preparations and sacrifice,” Mdletshe said.

“What I also picked up is that some people were allowed to bypass the long queue at the expense of others who had endured the scorching sun.”

“That was unfair because some of us arrived in the early hours,” reported Sunday World.honing one’s craft and points out the challenges in satisfying both the auditioning hopefuls and the judges’ expectations.

“People must work on their craft. I’m not gonna be having bosses not happy with my work trying to please people,” said Mwelase as reported by Sunday World.

Despite the controversy, Mwelase encourages aspiring actors not to give up after facing rejection, citing her own journey in the industry. Black Brains Pictures, the prominent production company behind successful shows like ‘Lockdown’ and ‘Isitha: The Enemy,’ faces criticism on social media for alleged mistreatment of aspiring actors in the past.
