Khanya Mkangisa: Where is former ‘YoTV’ presenter now?

South African media personality Khanya Mkangisa is best known for being a presenter on SABC 1’s youth focused program YoTV. In addition to YoTV Khanya also ventured into acting, starring well known soapies like Zone 14, Rockville, Isidingo and The Queen. Where is she now?Born in the Eastern Cape Khanya’s claim to fame started at 14-years-old when she became a presenter for SABC 1’s popular youth program YoTV. Three years after her debut Khanya went on to be a presenter on educational science show Knock Knock and Hectic Nine-9. In 2008 the media personality hosted the e.tv reality competition series Shield Teen No Sweat Dance Challenge.


 

 

After being bitten by the acting bug, Khanya started studying at South African film school AFDA in Johannesburg and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Motion Picture and Television. In 2011 the multihyphenate landed her first mainstream role on Zone 14 as Asanda and appeared in shows like The Lab, Mtunzini.com, uGugu no Andile.

In 2012 Khanya joined a mini-series titled, Forced Love in the role of Nonhle Minola. Forced Love was an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, set in a contemporary South African setting.

Between 2014 and 2015 the actress joined Isidingo in the role of Aphiwe Nzimande, who was the younger sister of Skhumbuzo Nzimande and played the role Nolitha in the Mzansi Magic drama series Rockville. Mkangisa also joined Selimathunzi as a presenter, taking over from Zizo Beda.

She also joined the cast of The Queen in 2021 as Detective Vuyiswa Jola’s niece, Akhona Jola.

As of late Khanya has been spotted in various productions like Fantasy Epic series, Blood Psalms, Unmarried 3 and has taken interest in becoming a DJ.
