It is so unbelievable what a bout of publicity can do in a week.

It seems as though Kelly Khumalo is taking over Somizi Mhlongo in the Idols competition.

Mhlongo was dumped by Mnet’s popular singing competition Idols after news emerged that he was abusive towards his lover Mogale Motaung.

Well, this is according to report in the Sunday World. The paper claims that Khumalo is taking over the reigns

A source close to the happenings at Idols said Khumalo was already an Idols talent and they were considering her to replace Somizi.

 

 

 

“Khumalo will definitely be considered because she is already an Mnet talent. She has done well for the channel,” said the source.

Khumalo’s show “Life With Kelly Khumalo” is already in its second season on the channel and it is doing well.

Even though she has had controversies, she also commands a large following that Idols could benefit from.

Somizi’s woes were further compounded after he was kicked to the curb by Metro FM.

M-net local entertainment channels director Nomsa Philiso said Mzansi Magic has received numerous media queries about contingency plans post the pre-recorded Idols SA Season 17 rounds. “We will communicate any developments in due course,” said Philiso.
