Following a dominant successful season which saw them lifting the DSTV premier league trophy, the mood amongst Mamelodi Sundown had been high; but reports emerging out of the Brazilians camp has left a lot of fans shattered.
According to various media reports, contract talks between Rhulani mokwena and Mamelodi have reached a stalemate, after the young tactician allegedly had stipulation that the team is failing to agree to.
According to inside sources….Coach Rhulani Mokwena has allegedly demanded Michael Loftman and Steve Komphela to be his assistant coaches, while Kennedy Mweene should take over as the goalkeeper coach. The salary package put forward by the young tactician is R600 000 monthly, and Manqoba Mngqithi who is currently earning R600 000; should be shown the door together with Wendall Robinson.
Many South African football fans were left saddened and heartbroken at Rulani Mokwena’s change of heart towards his co-worker, labelling him “Judas” and took an opportunity to remind him of when Manqoba Mngithi believed in him; and gave him an opportunity when everyone else had written him off:
“To think that when coach Pitso Mosimane left Mamelodi Sundowns FC,Patrice Motsepe gave Manqoba Mnqithi the head coaching job and this was his response….
‘No,I don’t want to steer the ship alone,I want Rhulani next to me as a co-coach’
but today he is saying he doesn’t want to work with him anymore.” Said a pained football fan.
Coach Rulani Mokwena had a very successful season as the sole head coach of Amasandawana. Not only winning the league, but also pocketing “Coach of the season” accolade. Many people will be watching him closely next season, to see if he replicate the same feat.
