Johann Rupert: SA’s richest man spotted in Rugby World Cup final

One of South Africa’s richest men Johann Rupert was spotted at the 2023 Rugby World Cup final in France supporting the Springboks.

Following a narrow win against the All Blacks, Ruppert was spotted hugging Rassie Erasmus to celebrate.Tennis great Roger Federer, who was spotted wearing a Springbok scarf in the stands, joined the South African team post-match and posed for selfies.

He also chatted to scrumhalf Faf de Klerk who was wearing his now customary Speedo.

The 73-year-old was born into a prosperous family and is the son of Anton Rupert, the founder of a Rembrandt Group tobacco company.

His family is the source of the wealth he represents across many companies.

According to Daily Investor, Ruppert owns 46.6% of Mediclinic International and 31.7% of Distell. On top of that, he also has 80.3% of RCL Foods and 100% of Wispeco Aluminum, Siqalo Foods, Wispeco, Stelllenbosch Academy of Sports, and Stellenbosch Football Club.
