Kelly Khumalo, a Grammy-winning singer, claims she has been receiving death threats since 2014, when her ex-boyfriend, the Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalie Senzo Meyiwa, was slain.

On October 26, 2014, Meyiwa was shot and killed in Khumalo’s home in Voslorus, sending shock waves throughout the country.

The “Asine” singer revealed to eNCA’s Slindelo Masikane only hours prior to the premiere of the third season of her reality show “Life With Kelly Khumalo” that she and her family had received continual death threats.

“My life has been threatened. Khumalo says Masikane, “My family has been threatened not once but several times, and I believe that the law is not protecting me and making me feel that it is my right to have protection, not only for myself but also for my family.”

The local singer has been the focus of internet harassment from individuals who insult her at every opportunity.

Khumalo, who has maintained her innocence, claims she is awaiting her day in court before presenting her case.

“I am one of those who must speak, yet the general public does not comprehend the legal proceedings. I cannot simply speak on television.”

Representing some, like the attorney for four of the five men detained for the murder of Meyiwa, advocate Malesela Teffo has accused Khumalo of murdering her partner, a football player.

Teffo stated during his cross-examination of police forensic expert Sergeant Thabo Mosia in June, “I put it to you, Mr. Mosia, that a witness, not just a witness, but an eyewitness will testify that Senzo R. Meyiwa was shot by Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo by accident, as it is alleged.”

“The same eyewitness would also testify that Longwe Twala was in possession of the handgun used to shoot Senzo Robert Meyiwa by Kelly Khumalo,” he said.

“All I see are broken individuals who derive pleasure from breaking others.” I wish for their recovery. It must be a terrible situation for them. I am sending them light and love.

“I am God’s and my forefathers’ child. I shall always be safeguarded. They can continue to despise the fact that I’m still alive and feel completely at ease, since I’ll be around for a very long time.”

The third season of “Life With Kelly Khumalo” premieres on Showmax on Tuesday, July 5.

Season 3 begins in April, when #KellyKhumalo is again trending on Twitter and a true-crime documentary series about the death of Senzo Meyiwa and his trial is set to be released.

As she states in the trailer, “They despise the fact that I survived that day.”

Khumalo has pledged to “drop the beans” in the upcoming season regarding how she feels about Senzo’s family, Jub-Day Jub’s Mother’s social media messages, and her connection with her sister, Zandi.
