“It haunted me all my life”, former Generations’ actress on her abortion experience

Refiloe Seseane is a south african actress, voice over artist, corporate M.C and presenter. Few years ago she starred on SABC 1’s soap opera Generations as Dudu Kunene.

Like other women, she has opened up about the abortion she did when she was a teen. She thinks is something that can be of inspiration to someone else.

She revealed that a nursing sister asked her if she was sure about the decision of terminating the pregnancy, and she had already made up her mind that having a child by that age could have just burdened herself and her family.

However, having healed from it Refiloe says it was the hardest thing she ever undergone and she thought she was going to die. “It haunted me all my life”, she said.

Refiloe is the founder of 18twenty8, an organization that helps young people, mentoring and supporting them to achieve their dreams.

She came with the idea in 2008, after looking back and see all the things she had achieved in the previous 10 years and felt like she would have gone a lot further if she had someone mentoring and supporting her.

So she founded 18twenty8, which empowers young women between ages of 18 and 28 through education and personal development. She’s giving them the opportunity she wish she had.
