Exactly a week ago, American rapper Doja Cat whose real name is Amala Ratna Dlamini, won her first Grammy at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3.

For those of you who might be confused, Doja Cat is the daughter of actor and Sarafina star Dumisani Dlamini, the two have never met nor do they have a relationship according to the star’s daughter.

In an interview with Leah Henry on the “Quicksilver Show” in 2019, Doja told the host that she has never met her father and does not have a relationship with him.

“I’ve never met him, and he’s on instagram, and he comments on my pictures sometimes, maybe not anymore, but he did a few times like months ago. He’s an incredible dancer and a great actor but yeah, I don’t know him very well,” – she said.

To the country’s unpleasant surprise after Doja’s announcement that she won a Grammy, Dumisani also took to Instagram to post and congratulate fans for supporting his daughter, furthermore, he thanked his daughter’s fans for being so supportive of his daughter.

Doja got to meet Whoopi Goldberg once in 2020 and she expressed how this made her think about her dad a lot as she has never met him and knowing that Whoopi has met him really hurts her, Whoopi seemed startled by this and therefore expressed that Dumisani is a good man and therefore she does not understand how this is possible.

 

 

 
Doja has also expressed that in the past when she was about 13, she wanted to meet her father and have a relationship with him, but now that she has grown she does not wish to do so.

In hise defence, Dumisani said that he has tried to get hold or reach his daughter, but the company that she works for, but they have been blocking him, on the contrary Dumisani has been using Doja’s name to promote his personal events by referring to himself as “Doja’s father”.

A lot of people had a lot to say about this and as a last resort the attacked Dumisani for chasing clout using the star’s name.

Former Miss S.A Liesl laurie also weighed in on the matter and stated that Dumisani reminds her of her dad who tried to suddenly create a relationship with her when she won her title as Miss S.A.
