Etv’s hit soapie Scandal has wowed us for years and its still one of the most followed drama series in Mzansi. We can all agree that if there is a soapie with a plug its Scandal and it knows well how to keep us glued on our screens.

Definitely, its storylines make the cut and the intriguing storyline leaves a lot to be desired. The drama and thrills keep us at the edge of our couches guessing what might happen next.

1. Thembeka Shezi

The character everybody loved to hate always managed to worm her way out from sticky situations. Love her or hate her, Thembeka always came out tops. She was mostly feared by many – expect Romeo Medupe, played by Hungani Ndlovu.

The feisty Thembeka Shezi was played by Masasa Mbangeni who exited Scandal! in high spirits.
2. Lucas Nyathi

Who could forget the mighty Nyathi? He and his rival Neo were always at loggerheads and had to dodge a bullet or two because of their feud. He, his wife and his son Mangi Nyathi were once accused of murdering the monstrous Neo Mokheti played by Jerry Mofokeng. During their era, Scandal! took a risk with their prison storyline and nailed it.
3. Mthunzi Mayisa

Mthunzi Mayisa played by South African Film and Television Awards (Safta) winner Bongile Mantsai. This is the latest villain who had to team up with existing villains to take down the Langa’s. Even though he said he is totally different from the character he plays, he brought him to life so much to the point where people thought it was his true character.
4. Shakira Nyathi played by Dawn Mathews

We’ve had many villainous wives in soapville such as Cherel De-Villiers Haines of Isidingo and Muvhango’s Meme but there’s only been one outstanding villainous wife; Shakira Nyathi. She was the one who encouraged and whispered evil plans in her husband’s ear.
5. Dustbin man played by Mothusi Mogano

The legendary Neo Mokgethi had two sons; Lerumo Chabedi and The Dustbinman. Mokgethi raised neither of his sons because he never married their mothers. While Lerumo turned out to be an outstanding citizen on the show, his other son was the opposite; a psychotic, evil maniac who was obsessed with destroying his half-brother’s life.
