In Honor of Aaron Arthur “Shona” Ferguson. Gone But Never forgotten.

Mr Ferguson moved to Lesotho in 1992 where worked for a while. He would later go back to his homeland, where he worked as a salesman and rose through the ranks to Sales Manager while working for Edutech, an IT company. He won multiple awards including Top Sales Manager Award for the period 1998 to 1999.


 

 

 

 

 

 

In 2001, on 31 July he met Connie Masilo and the two fell in love. They got married later that same year in November.

They have two kids, one that Connie Ferguson had in her previous five year marriage with then fellow actor Neo Matsunyane and one child she bore to Shona; Lesedi Matsunyane-Ferguson and Alicia Angel Ferguson respectively.

Personal Attributes

Shona is forever remembered for being a man of faith. In a article published by The Sowetan Live, he was praised as a man who put God before everything and emphasized on the need for prayer.

Ferguson was a man who preached the gospel of inner peace and bearing a positive mind at all times.

He also encouraged people to be focused and as he would put it with his hashtag, #StopWhiningStartGrinding. People remember him for being a firm believer in hard work.

He was also a devout family man, to his wife and kids.

Shona once exclaimed that there was a time he didn’t have enough money to buy toothpaste. Hard work and dedication saw him through.

Acting Career

He began his career in the entertainment industry in Lesotho as a club DJ at The Palace Hotel Night Club in 1992.

Ferguson’s first role was with Muvhango, where he played a major acting role of Dr Leabua.

But perhaps the most memorable screen play he was involved in was the popular Mzansi Magic soapie, The Queen where he acted as Jerry Maake, an arch rival to Harriet Khoza who interestingly happened to be his wife, Connie Ferguson.

Ferguson Films.

Ferguson Films was founded in 2010, co-run by Shona and his wife. It has a great number of popular productions under it’s belt and from the looks of things, we’ll be hearing more from the entity. We wish Connie and team all the best.

Shona has been hailed by many as a mentor. Mzansi Magic Telenovela actor of The Queen, S.K. Khoza once posted a tribute video to the late veteran heaping heart touching praise and appreciation for all the good things Shona had done in his life, in a video that went viral on social media.

“I learnt so much from you. And I am grateful for every single thing you did for me personally and professionally….Your legacy lives on Mr Ferguson, until we meet again BIG BROTHER”, said SK. Khoza.

It is no doubt that this man is special in many ways and his spirit of Ubuntu and manliness will forever remain on the hearts of many.
