” I’d bribe this one with purity”. Check why this picture of a police officer caused a stir

The police play a very important role especially in our country. They fight crime by putting lawbreakers behind bars and keep communities safe.

A lot is always said about the police and most of the things that are uttered are awful. Some people believe a certain portion of police officers are corrupt for they are allegedly working with criminals. How true is that? Come to think of it, all the perpetrators would be roaming freely in the streets if there were no police officers, especially in South Africa.

Laws should state that the primary duties of police are to protect victims and potential victims and promote offender accountability by consistently enforcing laws and procedures so that all “honour” crimes and killings are investigated and addressed by the criminal justice system.

To give effect to this goal, laws should authorize police, by judicial authorization where appropriate, to enter premises, conduct arrest of the primary aggressor(s), and confiscate weapons or dangerous substances in cases involving “honour”. Our country would be a safe haven for all if that happens.

With regard to the police, there is another picture of a young police officer who almost everyone think is not fit to be a policewoman because she is beautiful. Just because a woman is beautiful doesn’t imply that she is not fit to be a police officer. Many of them are beautiful and thy are doing remarkable jobs.

At the very heart of being a police officer, is the desire to help people. If that’s not your desire, then don’t become a cop. People call the police when they need help and often it has nothing to do with law enforcement. Good cops help people and you will always see the story of a cop that bought a homeless man with no shoes a pair of shoes or helped replace a kids stolen bike. What you don’t see is that this happens hundreds of times a day and goes unreported.

The small percentage that is not to be trusted have been given great authority. Given the right opportunity, they will abuse and misuse this power for personal gain. They may also seek street-level justice in the form of excessive force or unlawful arrest based on their false reports.
