I deny any involvement – lambasted Terry Pheto breaks the silence on fraud allegations

Actress Terry Pheto has denied any involvement in a multi-million Rand National Lotteries Commission (NLC) fraud scheme being investigated by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).


In a statement released on social media on Saturday, the Tsotsi star said she was dismayed that she’s the subject of the SIU investigation.

“I deny any involvement in the alleged scheme that has been reported on. I also had no prior knowledge of an application to obtain a preservation order against me”. Terry Pheto said.

She added that she will “cooperate fully with this investigation in an open and transparent manner”.

Internationally acclaimed actress has been implicated in allegations of fraud relating to funding by the NLC.

Terry and eight other people including two lawyers, an accountant, a hotel group CEO and a former commissioner of the NLC, are being investigated by SIU in a multi-million rand fraud scheme, which allegedly saw them obtaining properties through the money they fraudulently acquired from the NLC.

The NPA, said nine properties residential estates in Pretoria, Centurion, Hartbeespoort and Johannesburg which were valued at over R22-million, one BMW 420i convertible and two Ocean Basket franchises worth over R25-million were now under preservation.
