How King Monada spends his R39 million fortune: His insane car collection & mansion

The award-winning artist is undoubtedly one of the most successful South African artists, and has taken the Bolobedu music far and beyond our borders; and in doing so, made a lot of money for himself.

Life and career

Khutso Steven Kgatle, better known by his stage name King Monada was born November 25, 1992 in Mokgoloboto village, Tzaneen in Limpopo.

Like most successful artists, Monada’s love for music manifested early on in his life. While in grade 8, he dropped out of high school to pursue his passion for music and started composing his own music.

Due to lack of funds, he started dancing on the side to supplement his income from music.

Most of his songs were written in Khelobedu (the standard Northern Sotho language), this enabled him to amass a loyal fan-base from his local area easily.

However, breaking in to the mainstream music industry proved difficult for two major reasons; early on he was based in the rural Limpopo region, with limited resources and opportunities for artists; secondly, his Bolobedu house music- at the there weren’t that many mainstream artists in his genre.

“This genre of music is called Bolobedu house music, but many people do not really understand it. And musicians who are doing this kind of music in the rural areas do not have strong connections in the industry,” he explained.

Determined to make it, Monada spent years performing in parties and taverns around his home town, until lady luck smiled on him. He luck turned when he met a producer – Molao Rammala of Open Mic production, who helped him record his smashing hit single- ska bora moreki.

Monada left Open Mic production to start his own label music, King Monada Music; where he released his 2018 hit song Malwedhe (Idibala) which was released and voted #2 on Ukhozi FM song of the year, with the #idibala dance challenge going viral, catapulting him to stardom.

Net worth

With incredible success of his songs, Monada has not only made a name for himself as king of Bolobedu music, but has also made a fortune for himself. However, much of his wealth comes from his smart investments including property.

As of 2021, Monada’s net worth is estimated at R39 million, with some sources putting it as far as $5 million (R70 million).

His cars collection

With such a fortune, King Monada has built an incredible car collection. Below are some of the cars in his garage.

Mercedes Benz c63 AMG

First car on the list is no doubt his favourite car in the collection, and has changed colours many times over its ownership.

BMW M4

When he needs to give his c63 a rest, he hops in to this beautiful white M4, which is just as fast.

VW Golf GTI (Mk 7)

This was one of the first cars he was driving after he made his big break in the music industry.

Mercedes Benz V-Class

The spacious V- Class is perfect for those long trips while performing across the country, and is big enough for all his friends and family to tag along.

Never forgetting the most important woman in his life, Monada also bought his mother a car- a brand new blue Ford Figo.
